Renewal
A well-maintained sports floor lasts decades. Left too long, it needs replacing. Action Floors keeps timber and Herculan (our polyurethane) sports floors in playing condition for venue owners and managers nationwide — from routine maintenance coats through to full sanding and refurbishment.
Caretaking
Regular maintenance is the cheapest work you'll ever do on a sports floor. It protects the surface before wear reaches it, and pushes the bigger jobs further out.
Timber Courts
Every Two YearsTwo coats of polyurethane, typically every two years. Restores the playing surface and protects the timber underneath — and it's what keeps a sanding cycle at ten years instead of five.
Herculan Floors
Every Ten YearsA 2 mm maintenance coat, typically every ten years. Hairline cracks and mechanical damage are repaired first, then the whole surface is renewed — so the floor looks and plays like new again. It's also the natural point to change colour or update line markings.
Sanding
The full refurbishment for a timber sports floor: sanded back to bare timber, completely re-line marked, and finished with four coats of polyurethane.
Recommended on a ten-year cycle. This is the reset — grip, appearance and playing characteristics restored, at a fraction of the cost of a new floor and with far less time out of service.

All court markings, applied to any existing sports floor.

Maintenance Planning
Timing
Work is scheduled around your calendar — into quiet periods and off-season windows — so the venue is back in use when you need it. Book early: term breaks and school holidays are the busiest windows in our year, and they fill well in advance.
Budget
Maintenance coats cost far less than sanding, and refurbishment costs far less than replacement. Staying on cycle is the cheapest way to own a sports floor.

The work completed on the old gym floor (complete sanding, sealing and marking) is a huge improvement and makes the gym itself look much lighter and brighter, as well as delivering a floor that is vastly improved and safe for our users. We look forward to the main gym being completed in the upcoming September/October school holidays.
